The Concierge

You have secured your stay, now build your itinerary.

Westfield now builds the days around the stay, not just the stay itself — walking, mountain biking, sailing, water skiing, climbing and everything else the Lake District does well, arranged for our own guests and for anyone else who'd like Ullswater organised properly.

The other half of the stay

Westfield, An Experience.

Stay Westfield is still where this begins — proper beds, a hot tub, a terrace over Ullswater worth getting up for. If you haven't booked yet, that's the place to start.

Your concierge picks up from there. Once your dates are set — with us, or anywhere else on the lake — we build the days around them: walking, biking, sailing, climbing and everything else the Lake District does well, matched to your ability, your appetite for risk, and how many mornings you actually want to be up before eight.

Have a look through the modules below, see what a few weeks look like already put together, then tell us what you're after. Every activity is run by the people who do it professionally, day in, day out — our part is knowing who to call, in what order, and around what weather.

How it works

The route we take.

Step 01

Tell us the shape of the trip

Dates, who's coming, how active you want to be, and anything you'd rather avoid — heights, cold water, early starts.

Step 02

We plan the route

A day-by-day itinerary drawn from the Lake District's specialists, timed around weather, crowds, and your own stay.

Step 03

The Lake District delivers it

Every activity is run by the people who actually do it for a living — we don't pretend we can teach you to sail.

Step 04

You just turn up

Kit sorted, transport arranged where it's needed, one point of contact for the whole week.

Build your week

Choose your terrain.

Every stay can be built from these modules — mixed, matched, and scaled to whoever's actually in the group.

Staying elsewhere on Ullswater?

Not staying with us? The concierge still travels.

Westfield began as a place to stay. It's become the number people call before they've even booked anywhere. Whether you're in one of our own rooms, a cottage along the lakeshore, or a tent further into the Lake District, the same concierge can build your week.

The Lake District, mapped

What's already on our doorstep.

A working network of outdoor specialists — some on the lakeshore, others a short drive through Keswick or up towards Blencathra.

Worth adding to the list: a few things that don't always make the obvious brochure, but are well within reach and worth building in — dark-sky stargazing (the Lake District is a registered Dark Sky Discovery site), falconry experiences, alpaca trekking, guided wild swimming, whisky and gin tastings at the Lake District's own distillery and brewery, a private charter on one of the heritage steamers, landscape photography walks, fellside golf, and guided fly-fishing for brown trout on the lake itself.

A few questions

Before you enquire.

Do we have to stay at Westfield to use the concierge?

No. The concierge service is open to anyone staying anywhere on Ullswater — our own guests just get it as standard.

How far in advance should we book activities?

As soon as your dates are fixed, ideally. Popular sessions — via ferrata, sailing tuition, ghyll scrambling — get booked up in peak season, so the earlier we know your plans the more choice we have.

What happens if the weather turns?

We build a wet-weather alternative into every itinerary from the start, and stay in touch with each operator on the day. Nobody's left standing in a field wondering what's happening.

Can you organise activities for large or mixed-ability groups?

Yes — it's one of the things we spend the most time on. Most of the Lake District's operators are used to running sessions for a wide age and ability range within a single booking.

Is there an extra cost for the concierge service itself?

Planning your itinerary is free. You pay each activity operator directly at their own rates — we don't mark anything up.
